An award-winning design firm takes home another award — Geneva Cabinet Company, a Lake Geneva-based kitchen and bath design firm and dealer of high-end Wood-Mode cabinetry, recently earned a Platinum Award from Wood-Mode for outstanding sales in 2009.
One of the highest accolades Wood-Mode bestows, the Platinum Award is given to only the top dealers in the nation. Geneva Cabinet Company ranked no. 26 out of 1,100 nationwide dealers of Wood Mode—one of the country’s leading manufacturers of fine custom cabinetry for the home and office.
“With the economy being in an extended down cycle, we were thrilled to have such a healthy sales year last year,” said Peggy Helgeson, general manager and Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) with Geneva Cabinet Company. “We’re also a relatively smaller firm than many other kitchen and bath showrooms, so beating out larger dealerships for this honor feels like a nice accomplishment.”
“I’d rank Peggy as one of the top designers in the country,” said Ken Krengel, president of Chicago-based Krengel & Associates, exclusive representatives for Wood-Mode and Brookhaven cabinetry in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. “Aside from her talented design capabilities, I’m also impressed with how she’s able to over-deliver on her customers’ expectations and go that extra mile for clients.”
Helgeson noted Geneva Cabinet Company has in recent years been the recipient of several Wood-Mode Fireside Awards, earned by select dealers which have achieved the biggest sales increase from the year prior. Additionally, the firm created two new Wood-Mode kitchens which each won first place in the 2008 and 2009 Lakeland Builders Association Parade of Homes competitions in the category of new kitchens 4,000 square feet and up. Helgeson and her team recently designed two all-new Wood-Mode kitchens that will be on display to the public in July and August in the 2010 Parade of Homes (for more details, visit LakelandBA.com).
Founded in 2005, Geneva Cabinet Company showcases 16 display areas with four complete kitchens in its 2,200-square-foot showroom. Each area features the latest in kitchen design, cabinets, countertops, flooring, appliances, lighting, and entertainment equipment.
Geneva Cabinet Company is located at 201 Geneva National Ave. South in Lake Geneva. For more information, phone (262) 245-9600 or visit GenevaCabinet.com.

Lake Geneva Company Wins Award!
Kitchen & Bath Design Firm Wins Award For Their Design Work
(Lake Geneva, WI) For the second year in a row, Geneva Cabinet Company walks away with a “Best Kitchen” award in the Lakeland Builders Association Parade of Homes! This year, the kitchen was designed by Peggy Helgeson and was in the “4,000 square feet and over” category.
“It’s quite the honour to win this award, especially understanding the votes are from local builders, other professional, industry peers,” exclaims Helgeson.
The focus of this kitchen is the frameless Brookhaven Cabinetry, in a square edged, Winfield raised panel door style, with an opaque finish. The hood was done in Wood-Mode Fine Custom Cabinetry.
“Truly, this kitchen has all the bells and whistles from a pull out spice drawer to energy efficient LED lighting to the Wood-Mode & Brookhaven cabinetry,” notes Helgeson. “It was really a lot of fun to design; the homeowner loves to cook - and you can just say we cooked up the design from there. You’ll notice the island is a couple of inches lower; that is for baking.
There is a 5’ Viking range, an under counter beverage fridge, a warming drawer, a built-in coffee system, and just so much more. We integrated any appliances which could be.”
The 10 foot ceilings in this modern, yet elegant home in Lake Geneva compliment the over and in cabinetry lighting Helgeson used in this kitchen. She also lit the island from underneath, truly creating a focal point and pulling the warmth of the room together. “You should see it at night, the light adds this fabulous, extra warmth,” she notes.
“I’m already looking forward to next year’s Parade of Homes,” Helgeson exclaims! “Geneva Cabinet Company knows we’ll have at least two kitchens entered for 2010.”
